Audra McDonald is unmatched in her range and the versatility of her artistry as both a singer and an actor. Audra McDonald who has won the prestigious six Tony Awards in a row and two Grammy Awards in 2015 was recognized as one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People. The president Barack Obama also awarded her the National Medal of Arts -- America's highest honour for excellence in this area. She is equally at home on television, film as well as Broadway. Her luminous soprano makes her a natural on the stage. Aside from her theater work she also enjoys a thriving career as an international recording and concert artist. McDonald was raised in a musical family in Fresno, California. She received classical vocal training from her school, the Juilliard School of New York. In the following years, she starred alongside Kathy Bates, Victor Garber as well as others in the critically famous Disney/ABC version of Annie in 1999, McDonald had an recurring role in NBC's Law & Order Special Victims Unit. McDonald's Emmy-nominated performance of Emma Thompson on Mike Nichols' HBO film adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winner Wit was directed by Mike Nichols. The actress first appeared in the role of U.S. attorney Liz Lawrence in 2009 on CBS's medical show The Good Wife in 2018 McDonald reprised her character (now called Liz Reddick) as a season regular on The Good Fight on Paramount+ getting three Critics Choice Award nominations for her performance. She is currently appearing as a guest in Julian Fellowes' historical drama The Gilded Age on HBO.
